WHY
NOT TRY A "TASTE OF SRI-LANKA"
Sri~Lanka "The Pearl of the Indian Ocean" is a fascinating and beautiful island with a remarkable variety of landscapes ranging from arid plains to endless rows of tea bushes in the highlands, from tropical rain forests with their exotic animal life and flowers to miles of palm-fringed beaches.
Sri-Lanka has over 2,400 years of recorded history and was the seat of a small but important Asian civilisation. Since those times, man has not had to search far for his food - apart from the abundance of fish in the Indian Ocean, Sri-Lanka is blessed with a luxurious supply of fruit and vegetables
being a marked difference between the cooking of the north and the south and the east and the west. Sri-Lankans use many spices, the combination being very much a question of personal preference and specific quantities and measurements are not considered necessary. The cook throws in a handful of this and a pinch of that and a dash of the other - the final taste belying the seemingly abandoned additions!
As a Sri-Lankan it gives me a great pleasure to share with you some of the dishes of the Country.
Happy Eating!
